Kevin Landel is a respected expert in media technologies and has designed systems, taught courses and consulted for many companies in the US and abroad, including the University of California, the University of Sydney, Australia, the Venezuelan petroleum industry, and the Australian Technology Park. Mr. Landel is a regular speaker at conferences and for interactive technology groups.
A graduate of the renowned MIT Media Lab, and formerly Vice President of Operations and Customer Services at RedDotNet/Digital On-Demand, Mr. Landel's expertise lies in the convergence of audio and video media with telecommunications technologies. Called a "dynamic leader" and a "strategic thinker", Mr. Landel has over twenty years of experience in the computer science, engineering, financial, academic and business communities with demonstrated research, development, team-building and leadership skills.
Mr. Landel has been CTO of an interactive communications company, designer of the advanced scientific visualization computer graphics laboratory at the San Diego national Supercomputer Center (SDSC), and as part of SDSC's Engineering, Networking and Security group was Operations Manager for SCInet, an advanced, high-speed national networking testbed. Mr. Landel's roles at RedDotNet have included Principal System Archictect and Director of Customer Services and Operations, with responsibilities as diverse as defining the user experience to directing the expansion of the RedDot network from inception to its current position as market leader in retail information systems.
Mr. Landel received his Master of Science in1988 from the Media Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, specializing in human-computer interface design. He received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley, with an emphasis in computer architecture and system interface design. Mr. Landel has been awarded a variety of grants and awards, and holds a patent for computer video display technology.
